Like countless other kids, Mark Drolette had dreams of one day becoming a major league baseball player. After completing a stellar season in high school as his team's ace, capped by his final start in which he retired the first 12 batters, had this native Northern Californian demonstrated he had what it took to make his dream come true? Well, save for a few minor impediments-such as the dozen or so years Mark spent ingesting an impressive array of drugs and even greater volumes of alcohol, his fear of failure, and, um, a possible paucity of skill-who knows?
